Seattle Central offers a variety of programs that help you get the training you need for the career you want. If you are enrolled or interested in enrolling in one of these programs, you may be eligible for funding and resources to help meet your career goals. Our Workforce Services programs provide required tuition, fees, books and transportation. Academic planning and job placement assistance is also available to qualifying students. Our Workforce programs include: - Basic Food Employment & Training Program (BFET): Available to students receiving federally issued Basic Food Benefits (SNAP). - WorkFirst: Available to students receiving Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) - Worker Retraining: Available to students who receive or have exhausted unemployment benefit within the last four years, are "displaced homemakers," veterans honorably discharged within the last four years, or formerly self-employed. - Opportunity Grant: Available to low–income adults pursuing an approved program. Students may receive funds to cover tuition and mandatory fees up to 45 credits and up to $1,000 for required books and supplies per academic year. - Student Emergency Assistance Grant (SEAG): Emergency funds available to students for sudden or unexpected “one-time” situations. WorkFirst funding typically covers tuition, required books and fees for the career training programs that are one year in length or shorter, as well as GED or High School completion. Worker Retraining Provides funding for laid-off and dislocated workers as well as vulnerable workers who need training in order to return to the workforce. Vulnerable workers are employed in an occupation that is not in demand, do not have a previous degree or certificate or need to learn new skills in order to keep their job. Training options include career training programs (certificates and AAS degrees), GED, high school completion, and English as a Second Language classes. Opportunity Grant Provides education grants for low-income students who have not yet earned a degree and are studying an eligible program.   Enroll in an approved pathway of study: Aviation, business, education, healthcare, natural resources or welding. Household income must be below 200 percent of the Federal Poverty Level. Provides up to 45 credits of tuition and $1000 per academic year for books.

Helps unemployed individuals retrain for a new job or career as part of a statewide program.   The Worker Retraining Program is a partnership between community and technical colleges and the Washington State Employment Security and provides funding and other resources to enable unemployed individuals to acquire the skills needed to return to work. This could mean a short term skills upgrade or a new career path and enrollment in a professional technical program.

Offers professional, career and technical training to students who wish to improve basic skills, build on existing professional abilities, or change careers. Focus is on students learning quickly while mastering the skills of their chosen discipline. Child care is available to students. Evening classes may be available.   Offers programs in the areas of bachelor and transfer degrees, applied design, business and service, computer/information technology, energy and technology, culinary arts, health science, manufacturing and transpiration technology.    Job Skills Improvement Classes: Classes are offered to improve the job skills of persons employed in an occupation who wish to broaden their knowledge or upgrade their skills.  Transfer Programs: Students may complete certain programs to transfer to several universities in the area.

The Resource Access Team is a multifunctional customer service team within the Department of Community and Human Services that will serve as a centralized information and resource referral system, making it easier for residents of King County to access the services they need. The Resource Access Team aims to help residents connect to resources, navigate services, or bridge short-term financial gaps. The Resource Access Team may provide financial assistance to King County residents to help them gain or retain employment, support educational goals leading to employment, or meet basic needs, including but not limited to food, healthcare, shelter, childcare, transportation and safety. Resource Access Financial Assistance is intended for emergent or one-time situations and not intended for recurrent or regular needs. The Resource Access Team does not provide rental assistance.

Offers career planning, job skills training, and job search assistance as part of a statewide program retraining unemployed adults in different fields.   WorkSource Affiliate (Bellevue) is located at this site and offers retraining services.   Worker Retraining (Bellevue College and WorkFirst [DSHS - Community Services Division - Region 4]) programs are available and offer free tuition for occupational training.

INVEST entrepreneurship training program was created to help justice-involved individuals become successful entrepreneurs. Through INVEST, participants learn the skills, mindset, and tools needed to start and grow their own business. This program is for individuals who: • Have been involved with the criminal justice system. • Are passionate about starting a business. • Want to make a positive impact through innovative ideas. • Have stable housing or are living in a reentry facility. • Are committed to personal and professional growth. • Are open to learning, working with others, and self-improvement. • Live a clean and sober lifestyle. INVEST is a supportive and challenging program designed to help formerly incarcerated individuals turn their business dreams into reality while building a brighter future and setting the stage for financial independence.

Offers both paid and unpaid on-the-job work experience internships for parents making the transition from welfare/TANF dependency to self-sufficiency. Internships provide a supportive work environment to build job skills, employment references and work history. Includes pre-employment job readiness training, educational support, career navigation assistance and unsubsidized job placement assistance.
